Cologuard is a noninvasive colorectal cancer screening strategy for adults 45 and older at average risk. It is a multi-target stool DNA test, looking for many substances in the stool that are associated with colorectal cancer. Specifically, it looks for abnormal cells or blood in your stool. It is available by prescription only.

Exact Sciences Corporation is a molecular diagnostics company focused on the early detection and prevention of the deadliest forms of cancer. The company has exclusive intellectual property protecting its non-invasive, molecular screening technology for the detection of colorectal cancer. Exact Sciences is the maker of the Cologuard test.

Exact Sciences Laboratories, LLC is a subsidiary of Exact Sciences and provides the laboratory testing services for Cologuard.

PWNHealth is an independent provider network that offers provider services to you. PWNHealth’s services include clinical oversight of lab testing, such as provider evaluation of test requests, ordering tests (if appropriate), patient consults, and administrative services. These services are independent from Exact Sciences Laboratories.

Exact Sciences Corporation works with PWNHealth to bring you Cologuard Online. PWNHealth provides clinical oversight of lab testing, including provider evaluation of test requests and ordering of tests, as appropriate, as well as other administrative and operational services. The results of testing are confidentially evaluated by PWNHealth.

If you have questions about your order or results, contact the PWNHealth Care Coordination Team at +1 (718) 210-9716. They are available by phone Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. You can also leave a message after hours and they will call you back as soon as possible.

Due to state regulations, you may be required to complete a provider consultation over the phone or via video conference prior to receiving your test. The provider will review your information and give you a call. During the consultation, you’ll have a chance to ask any questions you may have about this test and the provider will determine if the test is appropriate for you. Note if your state requires a video provider consultation, access to either a Chrome or Safari web browser with camera and microphone enabled, is required.

After your Cologuard test order request is reviewed and, if appropriate, approved, a collection kit will be shipped directly to your home by Exact Science Laboratories. Using the kit and following the accompanying instructions you will collect a single stool sample and return the collection kit via UPS to Exact Sciences Laboratories, where it will be analyzed for the presence of 11 molecular biomarkers that may indicate the presence of colorectal cancer or advanced adenomas.

To get an accurate result, it is recommended that you ship your collection kit back as soon as possible, within 24 hours after collecting it. The lab must receive the sample within 72 hours after collecting it.

Once the lab receives your collection kit, it usually takes about two weeks for the lab to process the sample and report the result back to PWNHealth for results delivery via your secure online account.

Your Cologuard results are easy to understand and include external resources to help you take a deeper dive into your health. You will receive a lab PDF, as well as a patient-friendly results PDF. The patient-friendly results PDF will include information about the test as well as your results and next steps you should take.

Included in this service is the opportunity to speak with a PWNHealth provider. This is a 5-20 minute session in which a provider can answer questions you may have about your results and determine next steps in care. If you would like to take advantage of this service, you will need to answer a few questions on an intake form and schedule your session. We recommend that you share your results with your primary healthcare provider in order to make the best decisions for your health.

Once the test is completed, and you will receive your results in your secure online account.

The PWNHealth clinical team will release all negative results to your account once they become available. If your results are positive, PWNHealth’s Care Coordination Team may attempt to contact you by phone before results are released to your account. If you are unable to be reached, PWNHealth will send you a certified postal letter notifying you of your results.

As a part of this service, you will have an opportunity to speak with a provider, who can answer any questions you may have about your results and help determine next steps in care. The session will either be a phone or video telemedicine consultation with a PWNHealth provider.

If you have returned your completed collection kit and have not received your results within 2 weeks, please contact the Exact Sciences Laboratories Customer Care Team at 1-844-870-8870.

Your financial responsibility for the Cologuard test itself will depend on your insurance coverage, according to your individual health plan. Nationwide, more than 94% of Cologuard patients have no out-of-pocket cost for screening.* When you provide your insurance information, Exact Sciences Laboratories will bill you for amounts not covered by your insurance, if any. PWNHealth services are not intended to be covered by insurance.

PWNHealth is only able to accept commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and self-pay at this time. All other government programs, such as Medicaid and Tricare are currently not accepted.

You may be able to submit the expense of Cologuard testing to your health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), health reimbursement account (HRA), or similar account for reimbursement. Please check with your health account administrator or insurance company to see if Cologuard testing is eligible for reimbursement under your plan.

Yes, we accept all four major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express). We are also able to accept payment via PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payment is due at the time of test selection and order request completion.

Yes. We use Transport Security Layer (TSL) to encrypt your credit card number, name, and address information so only cologuard.com is able to decode your information.

Within 365 days or test order request placement, if you have not yet shipped back your completed collection kit, you can call the Exact Sciences Laboratories Customer Care Team at 1-844-870-8870 to request a cancellation and refund. A fee will be subtracted from your refund to cover PWNHealth provider services and processing fees.

Unfortunately, we cannot process a refund for your order if you've already completed and shipped your collection kit.
